The consortium Climate Change Africa Opportunities (CCAO), CBCS Network, CNPAF, and SOCERAUCO organized a workshop on advocacy and policy influence for agroecology in the Congo Basin from Tuesday, June 3 to Friday, June 6, 2025, in Kinshasa.

The objectives of this workshop were to:

  1. Improve stakeholders' understanding of agroecology as a policy framework, food systems, ecological, and human rights-based.
  2. Strengthen the advocacy and policy influence skills of CSOs, farmers, women's and youth organizations, and indigenous groups.
  3. Strengthen stakeholders' capacity to influence policy processes at the national and regional levels.
  4.  Co-create draft national agroecology advocacy strategies aligned with the COBCAI program.

This training workshop brought together 50 participants, including at least 30% women and youth drawn from the Kinshasa Forum database and the COBCAI validation workshop. These participants included: civil society organizations, smallholder farmers' organizations, fishermen, pastoralists, youth and women's networks, consumer networks, indigenous peoples' representatives, research organizations, faith-based organizations, private sector actors, environmental and food justice advocates, local and national government stakeholders, media, influencers, and communicators.

This workshop was organized as part of the Congo Basin Biodiversity, Climate, and Agroecology Initiative, #COBCAI.
