Climate Change Africa Opportunities (CCAO) identifies and supports innovative, cost-effective, and financially viable solutions (modern and indigenous) that can be developed to reduce the impact of local climate risks faced by local and indigenous communities in the areas of agriculture, livestock, water, and renewable energy.

CCAO identifies and supports solutions that use local ideas, knowledge, and innovative technologies to contribute to sustainable development and climate action in urban settings. These solutions can span a variety of sectors, including transportation, buildings, energy, waste management, and service continuity in response to climate shocks.

CCAO identifies and supports innovative initiatives and approaches (modern and indigenous) to support the conservation and resilient management of African biodiversity and natural resources in the context of climate change.

CCAO identifies and supports innovative ideas and knowledge for pragmatic and cost-effective solutions to reduce water and wetland pollution (including marine litter, urban wastewater, and agricultural pollution). It also seeks solutions that enable better monitoring and tracking of marine pollution and the destruction of wetlands due to climate change.

CCAO identifies and supports innovative and effective communication and education methods and/or interdisciplinary programs that can be used to collect and teach measures, techniques, approaches, and strategies to support climate change adaptation and mitigation, and to protect biodiversity and the environment.

CCAO identifies and supports local initiatives that empower women and Indigenous peoples to resist climate and environmental injustices and facilitate the implementation of equitable alternative frameworks. We support environmental justice advocacy groups and their networking.
