The research project entitled IMPACT-R "Action-Based & Impact-Driven Research: Establishing Collaborative Frameworks for Researchers, Impact Makers and Sustainable Entrepreneurs", led by Dr Natalia Realpe, focuses on studying the link between access to energy and water, sanitation and hygiene in developing countries.

Research examines access to these basic services at the household level, as well as for productive uses. As part of this research, several data collection studies relating to needs / markets assessment, access to modern energy technologies and access to water, sanitation and hygiene will be carried out in Democratic Republic of Congo.

The project has a strong focus on the role of financial inclusion in improving access to basic services and aims to leverage existing relationships between institutions, cooperatives, NGOs and microfinance providers operating in remote rural areas. and local households.

This research project is relevant and highly strategic for the NGO Climate Change Africa Opportunities (CCAO) because it will allow us to:

1) Examine and understand the level of accessibility of populations, households and productive users to basic services, in particular the role of financial inclusion in improving access to basic services by public sector actors and private through research and data collection relating to needs/markets assessment, access to modern energy technologies and access to water, sanitation and hygiene and food security in rural areas which will be carried out in the Democratic Republic of Congo;

2) Evaluate the opportunity, the need and mobilize partners and stakeholders for the establishment of local, provincial and national frameworks for collaboration between all stakeholders (researchers, impact makers and sustainable entrepreneurs) in order to positively improve the access of populations, households and productive users to modern energy technologies and access to water, sanitation and hygiene and food security in rural areas in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Climate Change Africa Opportunities (CCAO) provides this project with a dynamic team of Investigators and a project coordinator in the Democratic Republic of Congo who participate in the collection of data in the provinces targeted as pilot geographical areas (South Kivu , North Kivu, Maniema, Kasai, Haut Katanga and Kinshasa) in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Data collection will be carried out using digital questionnaires. Digital versions of the assessment surveys, technical support and data collection software will be provided free of charge by HEDERA Sustainable SolutionsGmbH as part of the project. The MFI will have access to raw data and a dashboard to track data collection and results.

This project is coordinated in the Democratic Republic of Congo by Trésor Badisungu, Researcher & Africa Coordinator of the NGO Climate Change Africa Opportunities (CCAO).
